Haiku: July, Sunday night, 10pm

after the day’s heat
cool breezes under dark skies
delicious relief

supine under trees
latticework of green, blue sky
doing the yin work

jquery‘s magic
opens possibilities
loving api‘s

rearrange the mind
settle into the moment
stone dropped in a well

day curls like a cat
pawing and meowing for food
anchors, obliges

summer thunderstorm
ruffled waters of the pond
daughter of oya

hungry kitty meows
burrow through layers of sleep
can’t snooze this alarm

lazy late morning
content to trade the sunrise
for sleep’s luxury

horns blare in the fog
no question you will be late
what can you salvage?

seek transformation
and cultivate gratitude
from the fertile earth

see a stranger’s smile
at a small act of kindness
give one in return

can there be haiku
about lying on the couch
and eating donuts?
