Thanks, guys! It was rather eerie how the haiku came about. I composed the first two lines on the way to work in the morning, but left it half-written on a post-it note, waiting for a stronger line to wrap it up with. Unfortunately, I discovered it by the end of the day. I would gladly trade the post back to undo the horror of the day and its aftermath.

Wow. This is excellent. I love the second line, but the third is so powerful. Nice turn/cut.
I really like the description in the middle line; it makes the last line all the more haunting.
